Ensuring Your Phone Stays On
- In the event of a power outage, your home phone service may be interrupted unless a battery backup system is in place. You have the option to purchase these essential battery backups directly from Southern Montana Telephone, providing you with peace of mind.
- 12-Hour Battery Backup: Available for a one-time purchase price of $50. Once purchased, the battery is yours to own.
- 24-Hour Battery Option: For extended backup, we also offer a 24-hour battery. Please contact our office at (406) 689-3333 for specific pricing details on this option.
- Important Note: Only corded phones that do not require an electrical outlet will function when operating on battery backup power.
Understanding Your Battery Backup
- Here are some key details regarding the use and care of your battery backup unit:
- Dedicated Use: These batteries are specifically designed for use only with Southern Montana Telephone's phone service.
- Battery Performance: Our batteries offer up to 12 hours of standby power. Actual battery life can vary based on the battery's age and environmental conditions such as extreme cold, warmth, or unclean surroundings. To maximize battery life during an outage, we recommend limiting phone use to emergency calls.
- Storage Guidelines: For optimal performance and longevity, store your backup battery within a temperature range of 40°F to 100°F.
- Customer Responsibility: It is your responsibility to monitor the battery's status, ensuring it is charging correctly and operating as expected. We advise checking your battery's condition at least twice per year.
- Replacement and Warranty: Southern Montana Telephone does not provide battery replacements, nor do we offer a warranty on purchased batteries.
